About Maui Bengals

Kathy (right) at the TICA show in Oahu, January 2005. Her Bengal queen Bintik (left, with judge) made Triple Grand Champion in one show.

Maui Bengals is located on the island of Maui in Hawaii. We have been breeding top-quality domestic Bengals for many years for show, breeder and pet homes. This past year, we added some fabulous lines to our breeding program, including cats from Stonehenge, Rainforest and Koppiekatz. We brought the first silver Bengal lines to the Hawaiian Islands and are breeding true "goldens" as well. We are producing some wonderful typey cats with huge rosettes on clear satin coats.

Maui Bengals helped cat club The SouthWest Regional Rovers organize and host the first TICA (The International Cat Association) show held in many years in Hawaii, in Oahu January 2005. We keep abreast of the Bengal breed standard by traveling to the mainland frequently, where we attend TICA shows and visit other breeders to see "cutting-edge" cats.

Kathy Flood has been a professional artist and graphic designer for over twenty-five years. She received her B. F. A. in Fine Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and did postgraduate studies in fine arts at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. Kathy also studied art for six months in Paris. Kathy currently specializes in painting custom wall and sky murals for fine homes, with motifs that vary from tropical landscapes to African savannahs. Kathy recently completed paintings of two of the Bengal cat fancy's most beautiful Asian Leopard Cats, ALC Icon of Stonehenge and ALC Adonis of O'Bobtor. You can see these paintings and some of Kathy's other work on this website on the Artwork page. Limited edition giclee digital prints of the Asian Leopard Cats are available. Kathy is a certified ultra-giclee printer.

Kathy travels extensively with her husband Dave, who imports fine furniture from Bali and Indonesia. Kathy is able to indulge her passion in first-hand encounters with indigenous wildlife, from pythons in Bali to orangutans in Borneo. Her travels include Costa Rica and Thailand as well as Malaysia and Indonesia. Kathy was a volunteer at the Pacific Primate Sanctuary in Maui; her photographs of the Sanctuary's New World Monkey Exhibit were chosen for their website. Kathy's favorite, however, remains any type of wild feline, as the inspirational template for the domestic but exotic Bengal.
